Description

Swapping a LSX motor into your 1968 – 1974 Nova can be a major project. Hunting down the right parts and then hoping they will all play nice together can be frustrating project of epic proportion.

For example, will my LSX swap headers fit in with the LSX motor mounts I want to use? Will the A/C compressor hit the frame? Will the billet serpentine accessory drive system clear the frame and work with the aftermarket air conditioning system? How I interface the speedometer to work with the electronic speedo output on a modern PCM controller transmission?

That’s enough to drive any sane man deep into the liquor bin to try and salvage their sanity of swapping a LSX motor into your car. When it comes to the radiator, we’ve done he heavy lifting for you. You won’t have to guess if our radiator will work with all of your favorite LSX accessories.

We’ve gone through the pain of figuring it out for you so you can literally open the box and drop our radiator right into your car. Slam, bam, thank you mam.

That includes making sure the radiator will fit with things like billet accessory drives in the most common configurations that work well in the 1968 – 1974 Novas. Unlikes the earlier Novas, clearance is a bit tight in the later vintage Novas and we did prototype development to make sure it all works painlessly for you.

Our LSX radiator is a double-pass configuration with both hose connections on the passenger side. This is a two-pronged benefit for your LSX swap project. First, it looks clean without the top radiator hose running all over your engine compartment.

And the second benefit is because it’s a double-pass configuration,  it provides an additional 20% cooling capacity over a single pass radiator. Considering LSX radiators are much more efficient than a conventional small block engine, this gives you killer cooling up to 700 horsepower and beyond without having to a core with larger tubes.

Built specifically for the Nova, our swap radiator will drop right into the factory mounts and use the OEM top clamp to keep your new radiator in place. No cutting of your classic Nova required.

This radiator has the correct size hose connections for a LSX motor and has the correct steam vent port for LSX swaps.

If you’ve been reading about your LSX swap and are thinking or tapping the water pump to run the steam vent back into it: DON’T DO IT!

You will be shooting yourself in the foot. With a bazooka. One of the best features of the LSX motor is the steam vent system, which is one of the features that allow LSX motors to run high compression or boost on pump gas. Disabling it is a disgrace of the sacred.

For the upper hose, the upper hose from a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo all wheel drive is almost a perfect fit (depending on your motor mounts).
